Meet Claudia Jacobs

There are certain people who just know what they want to be when they grow up. As a young girl, Claudia Jacobs always enjoyed rearranging her room. Throughout her school years, Claudia had a creative flair and a dream of becoming an interior decorator. But it would take twenty more years to get there.

As part of her midlife crisis, Claudia went back to school to study Interior Design at Berkeley College on a part-time basis. Calculating she would be in her 60s by the time she got the degree, she came across an article in the New York Times on Real Estate Staging. In 2004, she took the Staged Homes course with Christine Rae in New York City. She then studied Interior Redesign at the School of Interior Redesign with Ann Anderson in Connecticut. Claudia is an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP).

She found her niche and was inspired to start her own business, Claudia Jacobs Designs LLC, offering these 2 unique and practical design services. Since being the first professional stager in the Hudson Valley region of NY, she had a lot of convincing to do. It is Claudia’s mission to get people to understand the concept, the benefits, the affordability but mostly the huge return on investment.

Claudia writes “Claudia’s Corner,” her weekly newspaper column on decorating and staging. The column has been running in the Sunday Times Herald-Record, the area’s daily newspaper, since 2006. She writes about affordable decorating and staging. “I truly believe everyone deserves to live in a beautiful home.
